Looks like production on the Friends reunion special is finally gearing up to kick off!

According to Deadline, HBO Max is finally gearing up to start filming on the highly anticipated, long awaited Friends reunion special.

HBO Max has not yet confirmed the news, but per the outlet, a source close to the project confirms that taping on the unscripted reunion special is set to kick off next week in Los Angeles.

The Friends reunion special has been gestating for quite a while at the streamer. In fact, as fans will recall, originally, HBO Max had planned for the reunion to be available to stream on the first day of its launch.

Unfortunately, plans on production hit a snag early on in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which hit the breaks on production.

Late last year, however, original series star Matthew Perry took to Twitter to let slip that plans were underway to start shooting on the Friends reunion in March 2021.

Perry might have been a few weeks off, but the timeline he offered up to fans back in November is still pretty close.

Either way, we’re sure Friends fans will be crossing their fingers that plans to begin shooting on the reunion are, in fact, well under way!

Set to debut exclusively via HBO Max, the forthcoming Friends reunion special is set to feature original stars Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc.

It’ll be filmed at Stage 24 on the Warner Bros., lot— the same soundstage the series called home when it was originally in production.

Original series creators Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffmann, and David Crane are all set to return as executive producers on the project. The original cast will also serve as executive producers on the reunion special along with Ben Winston, who will also serve as the special’s director.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see the Friends reunion special debut via HBO Max.
