Issa Rae of Awkward Black Girl internet fame will star in and co-write a comedy pilot for HBO.

Issa Rae is teaming up with Larry Wilmore to write what sounds like The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl adapted for cable television. And that’s good news, because more people deserve to see that awesome show!

The Wrap reports that the pair will be producing Insecure (we guess Awkward was already taken!), a comedy starring Rae as a modern-day African-American woman, who faces, “awkward experiences and racy tribulations.”

Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry will serve as executive producers on the project.

HBO has made a pilot order for the series, which means a full season pick-up is not yet guaranteed. But we have faith in Issa Rae, whose web series is both hilarious and relatable.

The young creator has been named one of Rolling Stone’s 23 funniest people in America, and was included on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list.

The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl is also coming out in book form, as a collection of essays, on Feb. 10.
