The Lego Movie was a gigantic hit in 2014, and has a sequel on the way. The film follows an ordinary guy named Emmet (Chris Pratt), who is mistaken as being the Master Builder, the one who can save the universe. With the aid of an old mystic Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman), a tough young lady named Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), and Batman (Will Arnett), Emmet will fight to defeat the evil tyrant Lord Business (Will Ferrell), who is bent on destroying the universe by gluing it together.

The Constant Gardener is a beautiful film that stars Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Welch. Justin (played by Fiennes) discovers a deadly secret when trying to find out who killed his wife. Justin is a low-level British diplomat who has moved to Kenya on a new assignment. His wife, Tessa (portrayed by Rachel Weisz), is an activist whose focus is on poverty and social justices. His attempts at preventing her from getting too involved fail, and he ends up having to find out why she was actually killed.

Dallas Buyers Club is based on a true story about a straight man (played by Matthew McConaughey), who contracts AIDS and works with the LGBT community in the ’80s to get access to medications that have proven to work in helping with the disease. The FDA and DEA don’t want him messing with big pharma, so they zone in on him. McConaughey and the film’s other star, Jared Leto, both won Oscars for their roles in this powerful film.

Fast and Furious 6 is the last film actor Paul Walker finished (entirely) prior to his tragic death. The film continues the journey of Walker and Vin Diesel’s team of misfits that steal a corrupt bureaucrat’s money, and do their best to get away with it while being chased down by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s character. The film’s sequel hits theaters later this year.

The Darjeeling Limited is a 2007 comedy-drama film directed by Wes Anderson. It stars Anderson’s normal crew, which includes Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman. It was written by Anderson, Schwartzman, and Roman Coppola. The film also features Waris Ahluwalia, Amara Karan, Barbet Schroeder, and Anjelica Huston, with Natalie Portman, Camilla Rutherford, Irrfan Khan and Bill Murray in cameo roles. It’s an excellent film, which takes a look at traveling, life, and family.

Edge of Tomorrow is a sci-fi thriller starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The film had a poor outing at the box office, but it was an excellent film. Cruise’s character finds himself reliving the same day over and over again, but after he hooks up with Emily Blunt’s character, they realize that if they can complete one mission, it will end the alien war. If you haven’t seen this film, it is a must-see.

Enough Said is a film about a divorced and single parent, Eva (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who spends her days enjoying work as a masseuse but dreading her daughter’s impending departure for college. She meets Albert (the late James Gandolfini) — a sweet, funny and like-minded man who is also facing an empty home. This was one of Gandolfini’s final films, and has some great moments between the two excellent actors.

The Fault in Our Stars is a beautiful film starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. The film is narrated by a 16-year-old cancer patient named Hazel Grace Lancaster (Woodley), who is being forced by her parents to attend a cancer/disease support group where she meets and falls in love with a 17-year-old Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort). Even if you haven’t read the book, this is a great movie that will have you looking for the tissue box.

The Place Beyond the Pines is a film that went under the radar, as it didn’t have a wide release, but it was very well done. Starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, and Dane DeHaan, this stand-out film is certainly worth checking out. Gosling plays a bank robbing dirt bike rider who falls in love, while Bradley Cooper plays a somewhat corrupt politician. It will surprise you, and most certainly be a film like you’ve never seen before.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is a film that everyone should see. End of the world movies are a dime a dozen, but Steve Carell and Keira Knightley put in some incredible performances as they find love in the most unlikely of places as the world is about to end. It’s uniquely filmed, but the story is funny, emotional, and exciting. Don’t miss this just because your theater didn’t happen to bring it to your town.

Atonement is one of those masterful period pieces that hook you from the very beginning. Keira Knightley stars as the daughter of a wealthy family, who falls in love with the groundskeeper, played brilliantly by James McAvoy. A young Saoirse Ronan will blow you away with her performance at such a young age, and will infuriate you as the tragic story unfolds. Director Joe Wright can do no wrong when he works with Keira Knightley, and Atonement is no different.

Up in the Air was actress Anna Kendrick’s big break. She stars alongside George Clooney, who also puts in a great performance as a man who fires people for a living. Kendrick’s character thinks his job can be done through online firings, but he tells her she should go into the field with him to see how this job really works. Clooney plays a very unique role, while Anna Kendrick officially arrived in Hollywood with this performance. She received an Oscar nomination for her role in Up in the Air, and while she didn’t win, it undoubtedly lit the fuse that sparked her massive popularity.
