Another Game of Thrones prequel is officially on the horizon over at HBO where a Dunk & Egg adaptation is in the works.

Game of Thrones might have come to a close, but it’s clear that HBO isn’t ready to bid farewell to the world George R.R. Martin has built.

According to Deadline, HBO is currently in the process of adapting Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg, with plans to turn the book into a series.

Described as a series of novellas the book was first published back in 2005 and takes place about a hundred years before the events of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, which went on to serve as the source material for the hit HBO series.

It follows the adventures of the titular characters who later grow to become Ser Duncan the Tall, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and future King Aegon V Targaryen.

Fans of Game of Thrones will likely be all too familiar with Aegon’s lineage as he eventually comes to father Aerys Targaryen, better known to most as the Mad King. He also happens to be the grandfather of Rhaegar, Viserys, and the queen of dragons herself, Daenerys.

Dunk & Egg serves as much more recent history with regards to the events of Game of Thrones, so it makes sense that HBO is looking to adapt the novellas into a full fledged series.

Of course, it isn’t the only project set in the Seven Kingdoms that’s currently coming down the pipeline at HBO.

While the premium cable network is reportedly working on quite a few GOT related projects, one that’s fairly far along in terms of production isHouse of Dragons.
