Veep is ending, but creator Armando Iannucci is coming back to HBO to launch a futuristic comedy series set in space.

HBO is set to lose some of its biggest hitters, with the end of both Game of Thrones and Veep in sight.

But as Veep is moving out, creator Armando Iannucci (who stepped down as showrunner after season 4) is back in, with his new comedy series Avenue 5 getting a pilot order at the cable network.

According to The Wrap, Avenue 5 is a “futuristic comedy” which will primarily be set in outer space.

No further plot details have yet been revealed — and sci-fi comedies are always a bit of a gamble — but considering the critical success that Veep has enjoyed, we have high hopes!

With several of its benchmark series concluding within the next couple of years, HBO seems intent on keeping it in the family. Not only are they working on a total of five different Game of Thrones spin-offs and prequel series, but has also recently ordered a Watchmen comic book adaptation from The Leftovers‘ Damon Lindelof.
