Agent Carter returns (sort of) as Hayley Atwell voices Peggy Carter on Marvel’s animated series Avengers Assemble.

Though it may not be the glorious, live-action return Agent Carter fans have hoped for, Peggy’s die-hards will be able to catch a new incarnation of the indomitable agent. Hayley Atwell will lend her voice to Agent Carter in an upcoming episode of Marvel’s animated series, Avengers Assemble.

The fourth season, titled Avengers: Secret Wars, will feature an episode heavily focused on Peggy Carter. Thanks to some appropriately comic-esque time-bending shenanigans, Peggy and Howard Stark will be able to join forces with Captain America and Iron Man as they battle Kang the Conqueror.

So basically, it’s the Peggy/Steve reunion you always wanted (plus bonus Stark daddy-issues drama!) It just happens to be animated, and airing on Disney XD.

Hayley Atwell isn’t alone in lending her voice to Avengers Assemble. JK Simmons reprised his memorable role of J. Jonah Jameson on the series, while Adrian Pasdar (Talbot on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) voices Iron Man. Other actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Clark Gregg, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Iain DeCaestecker, have voiced their characters on other Marvel animation projects as well.

Meanwhile, Avengers Assemble has beaten the MCU to the punch on featuring several prominent Marvel characters. Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Kamala Kahn (a.k.a. Ms. Marvel) and Black Panther have all played important roles in the animated series.

And who knows? Maybe Hayley Atwell’s return to Marvel (she’s currently starring in ABC’s Conviction) will lead to the live-action revival we’re all hoping for.
