The Agent Carter actress abruptly left social media last year, but Hayley Atwell fans remain hopeful that she’ll return.

Hayley Atwell: The first love of Captain America’s life, the star of the massively popular Agent Carter, and dubsmash queen of our hearts.

The British actress is much beloved because of her down-to-earth personality both in real life and online, interacting with fans on her various social media platforms and sharing fun pictures and videos from behind the curtain of this elusive thing called ‘celebrity.’

Through her Instagram and Twitter accounts we got to see pranks played on the Agent Carter set, the contents of Chris Evans’ fridge, and fun details about her daily routine. We also got to hear her thoughts on various hot-button issues in fandom: Notably, she expressed a positive sentiment towards the fan-favorite pairing Cartinelli.

It was therefore wildly upsetting when she announced, from one day to the next, that she was deleting all her social media outlets.

“Thanks for following! Leaving Twitter now. Its been a blast. Follow @GeoffreyColo and @ACwritersroom for AC updates,” she tweeted right before deleting her account, much to fans’ chagrin.

“Must make it clear, no ‘trolls’ have chased me away, I’ve just decided to leave to be more present and private. Thanks for following!” she assured her concerned followers.

But never fear, Hayley Atwell fans — there’s still hope that your favorite Instagram and Twitter user might pick up her smartphone for another round.

In an interview with IGN, Atwell says that there’s “a good chance” she’ll return to Twitter.

“I just needed to have a break from it for awhile, because I realized that I was having a relationship with my phone and no one else,” she laughs, “So I decided to put it down so I could actually have some human interaction, which has really been quite important.”

Atwell continues, “if I can find a way of coming back on Twitter that doesn’t overtake my life and I can have moderation, then of course I will, because I enjoy it very much. I really have fun with it… I definitely wouldn’t rule it out, that I come back.”

With Agent Carter season 2 in full swing, we also imagine it’d be beneficial for ABC to have her raise awareness and attract more viewers with her positive, engaging attitude — but of course we’d only want her to actually come back if she really wants to! After all, we all know how detrimental and depressing social media can become.

Just don’t call her “Mom” this time, whatever you do.

Agent Carter airs Tuesday nights on ABC.
