With the return of season 7 tonight, many have worried how Booth’s and Brennan’s new bunble of joy will be affecting the show. Hart Hanson weighs in and insists that it only makes the show better. And don’t worry, they still plan on grossing fans out.

For the first six seasons, fans watched as Booth and Brennan went back and forth with sexual tension. The start of the 7th season brought on a dramatic change when the couple were brought together after finding out Brennan was pregnant. Hart Hanson explains that they used the tension of the couple’s different ideas on parenting to take the place of the sexual tension. Now he insists that the arrival of the baby will only bring more drama for the couple as they go through many more changes.

TV Guide writes:

“If you think of their lives as a Venn diagram, there’s another area now where they cross,” Hanson says. “It used to be just professional, and then that emotional thing that they have. Now there’s another area where they have to contend with each other over something important. It’s like a black hole. It’s made more energy in a smaller area and it’s been really working for us.”

But fellow executive producer Stephen Nathan insists the show won’t become a watered-down domestic tale. “There’s always been that balancing act in the show of their personal life and the cases, but we’re a murder show,” he says. “When we do go home, they have a new arrival, which changes their lives. So, the baby will be a part of the show, because it’s a part of their lives. But somebody is still going to be murdered in a heinous and cruel way.”

Adds Hanson: “The balance won’t change, but the context will.”

Fans and Brennan will also have to get used to her character changing due to the arrival of her first child. For the first time, Brennan will find her happiness dependent on that of another, and she’s not sure how to deal with it!

How are you expecting to see Booth and Brennan deal with the arrival of their newborn?
