An exciting part of the construction process at the forthcoming Diagon Alley expansion at Universal Orlando has begun: The rumored Gringotts ride is getting its coaster track!

The two photos, below, were taken by a user on Orlando United’s forums. The track is only a small portion and will eventually be housed within an enclosed building. For now, the structure holding Gringotts does not have walls.

This third photo, from the same forum, depicts the building that will be housing the Gringotts ride. It sits at the back of the Diagon Alley area:

This new Harry Potter theme park is an expansion to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure. Diagon Alley is being constructed at Universal Studios, which is Islands of Adventures’ neighbor. Because the existing Wizarding World and the expansion are in separate parks, Universal is constructing a real Hogwarts Express to connect the two. Late last month we shared exciting details about Universal’s plans for the Hogwarts Express area.

The Gringotts thrill ride, we believe, will re-enact the cart ride scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (pictured at the top of this story). Other rumored attractions include The Leaky Cauldron restaurant and shops. No other rides, if any, are rumored at this time.

Diagon Alley is expected to open in 2014 or 2015. Universal has only confirmed that an expansion is in the works, but they have not detailed any plans. They are likely keeping it a secret to thwart people from postponing their Universal Orlando trip until the expansion opens. While we wait for their announcement, it’s nice to see visual confirmation of their progress.
