It’s been a full year since Pokemon Go creator Niantic announced a Harry Potter game with WB’s Portkey Games. The developers have since been silent on its progress — until now.

Clearly timed with this Friday’s Crimes of Grindelwald release, Harry Potter Wizards Unite has just unveiled a new logo, website, and the first plot details.

The game seems to revolve around keeping magic concealed from the Muggle world, and it’s set in a post-Voldemort world. “Traces of magic are appearing across the Muggle world without warning and in a rather chaotic manner. We worry it is only a matter of time before even the most incurious Muggles catch wind of it. We call on all witches and wizards to help contain the Calamity or risk the worst of times since You Know Who. Brush up on your spells, get your wand ready, and enlist immediately.”

“The Ministry is looking for witches and wizards willing to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to save the wizarding world from the Calamity,” the website states. “As a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force (a new task force formed in partnership between the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards) you will hone lightning fast wand reflexes, an ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder from afar, and proficiency in advanced casting of multiple spells.”

A trailer suggests that one of those ‘traces of magic’ we need to contain is a rogue Golden Snitch:

The game is likely to be similar to Pokemon Go in that you have to walk around your local area to take care of business. While the Pokemon game is all about capturing critters, Wizards Unite might be all about capturing rogue magic. The initial press release also teased being able to cast spells, discovering magical artifacts, and running into iconic characters.

The new website also reveals that Wizards Unite will be released in 2019. It was initially slated for 2018.

Wizards Unite is one of several games in development within WB’s new Portkey Games division, which focuses on creating Wizarding World video games for mobile and console. The first game to be released was Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery earlier this year (It’s not great). And a few months ago, a trailer leaked for what looks to be a big new console RPG.
