New comments from Loews Hotel chairman Jonathan Tisch indicate that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley expansion will open in June 2014.

Tisch was interviewed on CNBC Tuesday morning and spoke about his company’s future plans which include the new Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Orlando where the Diagon Alley land is currently being built. The first phase of the hotel opening will occur in April followed by phase two in June “when Harry Potter 2 opens.”

A June opening date for the Wizarding World expansion is not all too surprising. We’ve previously reported on hints that suggested the land would open Summer 2014.

The Diagon Alley land will be separate from the existing Hogsmeade area at Islands of Adventure. A working Hogwarts Express – which arrived at the park last month – will connect the two lands for visitors who wish to journey by train. The expansion is rumored to include a Gringotts thrill ride, The Leaky Cauldron restaurant, and new shops.

The original Wizarding World opened in June 2010. Universal hosted a huge celebration which featured a live performance by John Williams and appearances by Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and many more stars.

Universal Japan’s Wizarding World will open next year, and Hollywood’s will open in 2015 or 2016. Only Orlando’s is expected to include the Diagon Alley expansion.

Thanks, Orlando Informer and Heidi.
