Over the weekend, Universal Orlando began installing the dragon that will be perched atop Gringotts Bank in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s highly-anticipated expansion.

The iconic dragon was installed with a large crane on the building housing Diagon Alley’s main attraction, “Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts.”

The first photo was taken by our friends at Inside the Magic, and the second photo is by Amusement Buzz. The dragon will be breathing fire down towards Diagon Alley as guests stand in awe and take endless photos for Instagram.

The dragon was first unveiled in concept art for Diagon Alley last May. At first no one assumed that the dragon would actually be atop Gringotts bank, let alone breathing fire, but it didn’t take long for a Universal representative to confirm that it was true.

Elsewhere in Inside the Magic’s report catching up on Potter expansion coverage were these photos of Kreacher poking his head out a window in Grimmauld Place and the new Hogsmeade train station at the existing land in Islands of Adventure.

All photos were taken outside of construction walls because the new land isn’t open to the public yet.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley is expected to open next month, but a grand opening date hasn’t been announced. Last week we told you that Diagon Alley vacation packages are letting guests enter the new land as early as June 29, which suggests an opening will happen before that date.

A media event will be held in mid-June, and Hypable will be in attendance.
