Hypable went to the Grand Opening ceremony for the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden, and we bring you exclusive interviews with the cast and crew! Special effects designer Nick Dudman discusses his work designing the magical creatures.
Speaking to Hypable, Dudman talked about the process of dragon design and making the creatures look original:
They designed starter sketches in the art department and then we worked our way through them and they mutate as we go. The biggest challenge is to make them not look like what anyone else has done. So when you’re doing dragons, werewolves, anything that’s iconic you hit a problem because a lot of the good ideas have already been done, so you have to find a different angle.
Do you think the movies did a good job of bringing werewolves, dragons and other magical creatures to life?
