The Daily Mail – who first broke news of the Harry Potter stage play in December – is now sharing new information about the show which will look at the Boy Wizard’s early years.

First, today’s new report indicates that J.K. Rowling has met with Once and The Glass Menagerie director John Tiffany to helm the new Potter stage play. In addition, Jack Thorne is being considered to write. He also reportedly met with Rowling. The two men collaborated on Thorne’s Let the Right One In.

The report adds that the play will “explore the story” of Harry’s parents Lily and James. This is the first time we’re hearing that the play will put a spotlight on the Mr. and Mrs. who died early in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Finally, The Daily Mail says Warner Bros. is involved with the production and quotes someone at the studio who says that getting it right is very important to them. “We will see what we have when it’s written, and proceed from there. Remember: it’s a play, not a musical; so we may not require a great big theatre.”

The Harry Potter stage play is expected to arrive on London’s West End some time next year.

Fans have been concerned about how interesting the show could be considering Harry’s life before Hogwarts was quite boring, but as we hear more about the show, it sounds like it will focus on the supporting characters like his parents and friends rather than Harry himself.

Is the play sounding better as more details emerge?

Thanks, Daily Mail.
