Today is the 18-year anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone! We know those Hogwarts letters are long overdue, but don’t worry. We’ll sort it out.

Today, Friday, June 26, 2015, marks the publication anniversary of J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter novel.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, its only official title at this time, was published exactly 18 years ago. Feel old yet?

J.K. Rowling herself marks the occasion on her new favorite procrastination tool (don’t ever change, Jo) Twitter:

(Her other reason was the announcement of the Harry Potter stage play Cursed Child, which you can read more about here.)

Now, obviously Sorcerer’s Stone changed all of our lives, irrevocably, for the better. Harry Potter’s world was full of lovable characters, exciting adventures, friendship and values and dragons and mouth-watering descriptions of food and ah, we could keep this up forever.

But the one thing which has always resonated with fans more than any other aspect of Rowling’s world was the Hogwarts House system.

Everyone wants to be sorted. Everyone wants to know if they are a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin or Hufflepuff, and clearly the desire for self-discovery has not gone away with age. Scientists are even studying it now.

There are millions of Sorting Hat quizzes on the Internet, aside of course from the official one on Pottermore with questions by Rowling herself.

You’ve answered questions that will determine your key traits, ranging from the very simple — bravery, intelligence, cunning, or kindness — to the much more complex.

You’ve taken the quizzes. All the quizzes. You’ve soul searched. You know where you truly belong. But do we?

Just to shake things up a bit, we’ve designed a Sorting Hat quiz which will not, in fact, place you into a Hogwarts House. It’ll try to guess your House, based on arbitrary questions that have very little to do with personality traits.

Will it work? Well, we’ll see, won’t we? Have fun, and report your results in the comments!

Did we guess your true Hogwarts House?
