U.K. Harry Potter publisher Bloomsbury unveiled the new cover for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets this morning.

The publisher is re-releasing J.K. Rowling’s wizarding series this September to target new generations of readers.

Chamber of Secret’s new cover, designed by Johnny Duddle, features Harry with the sword of Gryffindor battling a basilisk with a little help from Fawkes. In the lower corner you can see who we presume is Ginny. It’s the first time, as far as we know, that Ron Weasley’s sister has made an appearance on the front of a Potter book

Edit: Readers have noted that Ginny appears on the back of the U.S. Chamber of Secrets cover. True, but she’s never appeared on the “front.”

The cover for Philosopher’s Stone was released in March. At the time, Bloomsbury announced that the series would be republished “inside out,” meaning that new content would be added to the books courtesy of Pottermore. They also said that the “editions will be reset to create a child-friendly reading experience for a new generation of readers.”

What do you think of the new ‘Chamber of Secrets’ cover?

We like the strong green theme and hope that each one will have a different color scheme.

The Harry Potter series has undergone several revamps over the years. Even Bloomsbury is already planning another re-release: In 2015 they’ll begin releasing a fully-illustrated version of the series.
