Variety’s report on last night’s surprising news concerning Universal and Warner’s decision to build the next Harry Potter theme park in Los Angeles reveals a couple of interesting new details, including the fact that the park will cost less than Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World.

They write:

Universal Studios and Warner Bros. have agreed to pony up around $200 million to build a second version of the theme-park attraction that opened June 18, 2010, at Islands of Adventure in Orlando.

Older attractions would likely have to be cleared out to make room for the new Potter attraction.

U spent as much as $265 million to build “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” A 2015 opening date is being eyed for the Hollywood version.

Less money implies a smaller theme park than what is at Universal Orlando, but we won’t pass judgement until we see their plans!
