David Yates, who directed the last 4 movies in the Harry Potter, series is rumored to be on board to direct the film adaptation of one of Stephen King’s most celebrated novels.

Though this is only a rumor, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 just hitting theaters, and the series over, Yates will be looking for a new project.  Warner Bros. Pictures is said to be attached to the film and it is slated for a 2012 release.

The Stand is a post-apocalyptic horror/fantasy novel originally published in 1978. Warner Bros. is said to want to turn the novel into a ‘multi-picture affair.’

This isn’t the only movie David Yates is rumored to be working on, though.  Yates may also direct a biopic of Chicago mob boss Al Capone, with Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) playing the infamous gangster.

Warner Bros. is also looking to adapt the popular graphic novel series Fables to the big screen, with Yates rumored to be in consideration for the title of director.

These are a lot of projects rumored for David Yates, and there’s a very slim chance he can do them all. Which ones do you want to see the beloved Harry Potter director attached to?
