Since the name “Dumbledore” was uttered in a recent trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, fans have been wondering if we’d see the former Hogwarts Headmaster returning to the big screen.

The idea of an old Harry Potter character appearing in a new Wizarding World movie is certainly an enticing idea. As excitement around Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts prove, fans are still clamoring for more Potter. And what better way to give us what we want than by bringing back a classic character?

It looks like we’ll be getting our wish in Fantastic Beasts… 2. Speaking to Reuters recently, director David Yates revealed that we may not be seeing an old favorite in the first Fantastic Beasts movie, but that we will get one in the sequel:

“There is a mention of some characters that we know and love from previous movies, but we only talk about them fleetingly,” Yates said of Beasts 1. But “in the next movie, part two, we’ll get to meet one of them in a significant way. He’s much younger than he used to be, but he’ll be coming back.”

Ohh boy. Who could it be? My first guess would be Dumbledore — we know he has some sort of relationship with Newt Scamander, who was expelled from Hogwarts, as the trailer recently revealed. And as we’ve speculated on MuggleCast, perhaps Fantastic Beasts will be turning into a redemption story — one in which we see Newt trying to get back into Hogwarts.

Newt making a return to school would obviously hand us a perfect opportunity to see Dumbledore in a “significant” role. There’s just one catch: He won’t be Headmaster. (Remember: He was a teacher up until the ’60s or ’70s.)

Still, seeing him as Professor Dumbledore would be lots of fun.

In fact, Newt’s friendship (or whatever it is) with Dumbledore could lead into even bigger things for Harry Potter fans in Beast 2 and Beasts 3. Speaking on The Cursed Child red carpet over the weekend, Rowling teased that Fantastic Beasts is “more preview-y [of Harry Potter] than people realize.” Take a look:
