Scholastic unveiled Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’s new cover at San Diego Comic-Con Thursday night, and Hypable was there to cover the reveal.

New Harry Potter cover illustrator Kazu Kibuishi was on hand at the Scholastic party to share Half-Blood Prince’s new design. Check out this first look which we snapped at the event:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was originally published July 16, 2005.

Each of the new Harry Potter covers has been unveiled one by one as we approach their late August release in the United States. The new covers were designed to reach out to a new generation of readers who haven’t discovered the magic of J.K. Rowling’s series. They are timed with the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’s original publication in the United States.

The Harry Potter hardbacks will retain their original art designed by Mary GrandPre. It is only the paperbacks that are receiving the new covers. They hit bookstores on August 27 – just days before the new term starts at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

See the new covers for Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix.

The new cover for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will debut at a birthday party Scholastic is throwing for Harry in New York City on Wednesday, July 31. Hypable will be there to cover the event – and the general public is invited! We hope to see you there.
