Alden Ehrenreich must have felt as though Harrison Ford’s shadow was everywhere as they shot Solo: A Star Wars Story, and in one interview, it turned out that Ford was even closer than he might have expected!

The new Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich, had some pretty big shoes to fill. Harrison Ford has a very special place in many a Star Wars fans’ hearts as the original Han Solo, so the stakes were high for the Solo film. Despite the stakes, a lot of us were incredibly hopeful that Ehrenreich could bring our favorite scruffy-looking nerf-herder to life in a way that felt both familiar and fresh.

Harrison Ford wanted that as well, and he actually crashed one of Ehrenreich’s interviews just to share his thoughts on Ehrenreich’s performance. While Ehrenreich was doing an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ford crashed the interview to give his blessings to the film and Ehrenreich’s performance.

Of course, this is Harrison Ford we’re talking about, so he also made sure to couch his praise in a joke at Ehrenreich’s expense. When Ford crashed the set, he jokingly shouted at Ehrenreich, “Get out of my chair! Get out of my life!” It’s a great moment, which was thankfully captured on film.

Despite the jokes, Ford was obviously incredibly proud of Ehrenreich’s performance. When asked about the film, Ford said he thought the film was, “spectacular and that he [Ehrenreich] was so smart about what he did and how he did it. I just couldn’t be happier.”

Getting your performance of Han Solo approved by the original Han Solo has got to feel good for Ehrenreich, and it is definitely reassuring for any Star Wars fans wrestling with lingering doubts over watching someone other than Harrison Ford play the iconic character. We love that Harrison Ford took the time to compliment the movie, and it makes us all the more excited to see it.

Solo: A Star Wars Story heads to theaters on May 25, and tickets are available now. So get your premiere plans ready!
