Today, we wish John Williams a happy 80th birthday!  Winning five Academy Awards and nominated for forty-seven, he is arguably the most famous film composer of all time.  We have compiled videos of some of his most famous works for your enjoyment!

Some of Williams’ most famous music from the early 2000s was from the first three Harry Potter films (and of course, it’s some of our favorite music by Williams!).  Below, he conducts the Orlando Philharmonic performing the Potter theme at the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

One of the greatest sagas of all time, Star Wars, would not have been famous without the genius compositions of Williams.  Below, the Vienna Philharmonic performs the Imperial March.

Williams took a bit of a different approach to his music in the 2002 comedy-drama Catch Me if You Can. In the opening titles of the film, you can listen to his hip and jazzy theme.

Superman was another film that gained Williams much recognition in the late 1970s. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performs the classic theme song below.

Lastly, another successful film Williams scored was Jurassic Park. Below, you can watch John Williams conduct the Boston Pops performing this pre-historic theme.

Williams wrote and conducted many other great movie themes, including E.T., Hook, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, and Jaws.  Most recently, he composed for War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin, both which received Oscar nominations. In 2012, we look forward to hearing John Williams’ new music in Lincoln.

Happy birthday again to one of the most successful figures in the film industry!
