Showrunner Bryan Fuller has tweeted the very first photo from Hannibal season 2, featuring star Mads Mikkelsen.

You heard right Fannibals! Your favourite cannibal serial killer is back at work, and showrunner Bryan Fuller knows just what the fans want – and is happy to give it to them.

Executive producer Martha De Laurentiis also joined in on the fun, with another behind-the-scenes look of Mikkelsen as the infamous Dr Hannibal Lecter.

So far there has been no sightings of Mikkelsen’s co-star, Hugh Dancy, who plays FBI profiler Will Graham, but that might be because by Hannibal season 2, Will is all locked up.

With Hannibal season 2 filming now underway, we can expect more casting news and on-set sneak peaks over the next few weeks and months.

We recently had our first piece of casting news, with the addition of Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon to the cast. Nixon joins the show as Jack Crawford’s (Laurence Fishburne) boss, sent to investigate the curious events we saw in season 1.

Hannibal stars Mikklesen and Dancy, alongside Fishburne, Caroline Dhavernas (Dr. Alana Bloom), Hettienne Park (Beverly Katz) and Aaron Abrams (Brian Zeller). Season 1 featured guest stars such as Gillian Anderson, Gina Torres and Eddie Izzard.

The show was created by Bryan Fuller, of Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls fame, and features his distinct writing, and visual style.

Hannibal season 2 will air on NBC in 2014, and will run 13 episodes.
