It looks like Hamilton’s cooking up something exciting, but we’ve got to be willing to wait for it…at least for a few more days!

Hamilton fans far and wide were treated to a cryptic post on social media when the musical’s official accounts teased that we should be keeping our eyes peeled for some sort of announcement this coming Friday.

“August 11 is going to be a #BitOfADay…for a few reasons,” teased the Hamilton Instagram account on Tuesday (August 8).

The caption was paired with a graphic with the date “8.11.2017” along with the text “Wait for it.” embossed in gold and set against a black backdrop.

Though the announcement didn’t give us much to go off of, that didn’t stop the fandom from speculating what it could mean in the comments of the post. Many seem to be hoping that the musical might be gearing up to release the professional taping of the musical, and we can’t say we blame them.

As Hamilfans will undoubtedly remember, the musical was professionally filmed with the entire original Broadway cast just last June. Though the majority of Broadway shows are taped with the original Broadway cast for posterity, the fact that such a recording exists has got many hoping that perhaps we’ll get to experience it somewhere down the line.

It seems far-fetched to hope that perhaps the big announcement coming this Friday could mean the taping will be released sooner rather than later, but we’re not ruling that out as an option!

A more realistic option, which a large number of fans are also pointing out, is that they could be gearing up to announce the release of The Hamilton Mixtape, Vol. 2.

The first installment of The Hamilton Mixtape, which featured the likes of Chance The Rapper, Andra Day, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend,and more, dropped in December of 2016.

Though the first mixtape was spectacular, Miranda himself made no secret of the fact that a second volume, featuring even more of our favorite artists putting their spin on our favorite Hamilton tunes, was coming somewhere down the line.

“As to WHEN, give us till the end of the year,” said Miranda of Volume 2 via Twitter back in January. “@RiggdUp & @questlove & @blackthought & I have to get on the phones…”

It would make sense for the Hamilton team to announce volume 2 of The Mixtape on New Music Friday, so we’ll be placing our bets there.

Like the rest of the Hamilton fandom, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the internet come Friday to find out what the musical has in store for us this time around!
