AMC’s new drama Halt and Catching Fire is quickly approaching its June 1 premiere date, and today we have an exclusive preview featuring the character Gordon Clark.

Gordon is played by Scoot McNairy, who is tasked with reverse engineering an IBM PC with Joe MacMillan (played by Lee Pace) in this first look at the upcoming 1980s tech drama.

Encouraged by his wife to follow his dreams after they made a major mistake with another computer they designed, he decides to hit the reset button on his career by moving forward with Joe.

As we see in this preview, the technical work doesn’t go smoothly (at first at least). Watch below:

Halt and Catch Fire “captures the rise of the PC era in the early 1980s, during which a renegade trio — a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy — risk it all to realize their vision of building a computer that could change the future,” according to a press release from AMC. “The series charts the changing culture of Texas’ Silicon Prairie while tensions build within the group as they attempt to navigate the thin line between visionary and fraud and genius and delusion, and as their drive to do something that matters runs up against their ability to truly innovate.”
