Showtime is making a Halo series, and it has officially found the actor who will portray the famous Master Chief.

Halo is arguably one of the most well-known video game franchises out there. Chances are, even if you don’t play video games and you don’t have someone close to you that plays them, you’ve still heard of the game. So it isn’t surprising to learn that Showtime is making a show based on Halo universe.

The show has taken quite a few years to get off the ground, but it seems like things are officially moving forward–and moving forward quickly. To that end, it has finally solidified a key role, finding an actor to portray Master Chief, the protagonist of the Halo games.

As Variety reports, Pablo Schreiber is set to play the famed intergalactic soldier. For those unfamiliar with the game and the Halo universe, Variety explains that Master Chief is “Earth’s most advanced warrior in the 26th century and the only hope of salvation for a civilization pushed to the brink of destruction by the Covenant, an unstoppable alliance of alien worlds committed to the destruction of humanity.”

Schrieber has previously appeared in Orange Is the New Black as George ‘Pornstache’ Mendez, a role that snagged him an Emmy nomination, as well as American Gods as Mad Sweeney.

Though a few have broken the curse, many movies based on video games struggle at the box office. Halo fans have been waiting for quite some time to see the games adapted into a show or movie, so the expectations for Showtime’s series is quite high. However, we can hope that the serialized format can allow the show to world build a bit more and tell a more satisfying story than a movie would allow.

Now gamers can know what Master Chief’s face will look like.

Showtime initially ordered a 10-episode run of the show, but ultimately slimmed the order down to 9. Filming is scheduled to begin this fall in Budapest.
