Hopefully, Captain Phasma will have a bigger role in Star Wars: Episode VIII than she did in The Force Awakens!

FN-2187’s formidable squad leader Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) had a small, but impactful role in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Her fate was unclear at the end of the film, what with her being dropped down a trash compactor and all, but according to Gwendoline Christie, the Phasma returns in Episode VIII!

See what Christie had to say to People at the SAG Awards this past weekend:

Christie also talked a little bit about the costume, and the idea of a female stormtrooper, saying, “I thought the costume was incredibly striking. I also just liked this notion of a female stormtrooper. I felt it encouraged diversity and it was doing something new and it was an interesting bit of casting for women, and I hope that in something that was such a mainstream success it would breed more of those kind of opportunities for other women.”

Meanwhile, it appears the script for Episode VIII is finally complete, and director Rian Johnson should begin production shortly. Here’s Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) sharing a little teaser, and Johnson shutting him down in the best way possible:

Daisy Ridley and John Boyega are obviously also back, as the series leads Finn and Rey. Here are their adorable social media “announcements” about their return to the Star Wars universe:
