Guillermo del Toro has set his cast for the upcoming stop-motion animated musical feature, Pinocchio.

There are no shortage of Pinocchio adaptations coming down the pipeline, but there’s no denying that director Guillermo del Toro’s take on the wooden puppet who longs to become a real boy is one that many are excited for.

The Academy Award winning director is teaming up with Netflix to bring his stop-motion animated take on the timeless fairytale to life and now, we finally know who will be starring in the highly anticipated film.

In a press release sent out by Netflix on Wednesday (August 19), the streaming giant revealed that del Toro has officially found his Pinocchio in newcomer Gregory Mann.

In addition, del Toro has fleshed out the cast for his upcoming stop-motion animation with a slew of Hollywood heavy hitters.

First up, Ewan McGregor will play the role of Cricket, while Harry Potter vet David Bradley will portray Geppetto.

Others who’ve also joined the cast of the film include Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), John Turturro (The Batman), Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), Burn Gorman (Enola Holmes), Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman, and Academy Award winners Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, and Cate Blanchett.

Behind the scenes, del Toro and Fantastic Mr. Fox vet Mark Gustafson will serve as co-directors on the project, which features a script co-written by del Toro and Patrick McHale. On the score front, the film features music by Oscar winning composer Alexandre Desplat, with song lyrics by del Toro and Katz.

Based on the classic tale by Carlo Collodi, Guillermo del Toro’s take on Pinocchio is set during the rise of Fascism in Mussolini’s Italy. It follows the journey of a wooden boy magically brought to life by a father’s wish, albeit struggling to live up to his father’s expectations.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect the film to be released.
