Guillermo del Toro has handed in the completed script for Dark Universe, the Warner Bros. adaptation of DC Comics’ Justice League Dark. What happens next?

Forbes broke the news yesterday that the Justice League Dark script is now in the hands of Warner Bros. executives.

The adaptation of the DC Comic series has officially been in the works since 2013, and is known as Dark Universe.

Del Toro and his team have been working on the film for years, and fans have wondered if it would ever make it to screen – now, it’s likely going to be moving into development. The name of the actual screenwriter is still being kept under wraps, as most other details about the film.

This news comes following Warner Bros. releasing a slew of DC Comics movie release dates, taking us through 2018. Zack Snyder’s Justice League (not to be confused with del Toro’s Dark Universe) has been set for June 23, 2017.

Justice League: Dark will feature classic characters Swamp Thing, The Demon, John Constantine, Deadman, and The Spectre. In June, it was revealed that Warner Bros. is trying to keep this film’s universe separate from their other DC Comics adaptations, though they wouldn’t rule out future crossovers.

We are waiting for an official director announcement, but fans are hoping that Guillermo del Toro will be able to helm this project, despite his busy schedule.
