In case you’re wondering whether or not Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is going to be as good as the first one, rest assured you have nothing to worry about.
Guardians of the Galaxy continues to make it to the top of nearly every list that ranks the various Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The studio took a risk way back in 2014 when it decided to release the film — it didn’t quite look like anything else Marvel had put out so far. It was a hilarious, colorful, action-packed ride that took it all the way to box-office success.
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting theaters on May 5, 2017, fans have been anticipating the sequel. Would it be as good as the first one? Would it be as funny? Would Groot be as cute?
Turns out it might be even better. The Hollywood Reporter has gotten information that Vol. 2 has scored an extremely rare 100 at test screenings, beating previous top contenders Iron Man 3 and The Avengers.
THR does mention there is a small caveat, however. Most test screening are made up of randomly selected audience members. In an attempt to control leaks, however, Marvel selects friends and family members to watch the film. This does indicate the score would probably be higher than usual (bias, and all that), but since they’ve been using this system since the first Iron Man, it’s safe to say Guardians 2 is still impressing a lot of people.
