Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has confirmed that the sequel’s title is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

After Marvel President Kevin Feige let it slip during an Ant-Man interview that the sequel’s title would be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2., Gunn decided he should go ahead and confirm that it was the official title.

People didn’t believe him at first. After people questioned his announcement, he reiterated that it’s real:

Gunn actually revealed that some fans had figured the title out a little while ago, and he wanted to congratulate them badly, but couldn’t due to Marvel’s snipers used to prevent leaks.

As for the title itself, it’s solid. Maybe “Mix 2” would have been better since the first film’s soundtrack was such a success. Playing off of the mix tape would have been fun, but Vol. 2. has kind of a Star Wars feel to it, and no matter what, we can’t wait to see what Gunn has in store for us.

With Chris Pratt being a bonafide superstar after his recent success in the monstrous box office hit, Jurassic World, we imagine Guardians’ sequel will be a massive success, and like the first film, inject some much-needed fun and unique storylines into the MCU.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
