Marvel’s highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy teaser trailer release date has been announced. The official trailer will be released February 18.

Guardians of the Galaxy has been shrouded in secrecy, despite some footage shown to Comic Con fans back in July, but in less than a week we’ll all get a chance to check out Marvel’s new film.

The film’s first trailer will be released on February 18, according to Yahoo! Singapore’s official Twitter account:

The Guardians of the Galaxy trailer was rumored to be released during the Super Bowl, but the event came and went with half a dozen other film trailers premiering. While footage from the film was well received at Comic-Con, Guardians is still somewhat of a wildcard for Marvel/Disney.

They’re untested characters and a whole new world that doesn’t have the fanbase that we’ve seen gather for Avengers or Iron Man. Fans are excited for it, though, as it’s most likely a nice step away from what Marvel fans have become accustomed to.

Also surprising was a report late last week that stated Marvel has already scheduled a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel for 2016. While it’s simply a rumor as of now, we do know that Marvel has a film slated to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s release date is set for August 1, 2014. The film features the intergalactic group of Guardians, led by Star Lord, as they make a desperate stand to save the galaxy. Bradley Cooper voices Rocket Raccoon and is joined by Vin Diesel as the tree-like Groot, with Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista filling out the leading roles. James Gunn directed and wrote the script.
