Guardians of the Galaxy’s first set images have been released today and they appear to show a very unique looking Glenn Close.

The recent Guardians of the Galaxy trailer which was shown at Comic-Con was also shown at Disney’s D23 this weekend. Marvel’s Kevin Feige explained that no other footage had been completed yet, so that’s why they were showing the same trailer again.

Guardians of the Galaxy is currently being filmed in London, which led to Getty Images photographer Simon James getting some great shots of the Guardians of the Galaxy set.

Marvel recently revealed an official press release which confirmed that Glenn Close would be involved in Nova Corps. She’ll actually be the head of the outfit that was originally a space militia and exploration group for the planet Xandar. Her official title is Nova Prime, but it’s less of a character name and more of an official military-esq title.

We believe the main character in the images may be Glenn Close. Take a closer look at the beautiful HD images below and let us know what you think:

If that is Glenn Close, she’s wearing some very heavy makeup and we’ll be interested in seeing how much work is being done with prosthetics. Also, how much will be done in post-production with the use of CGI. We can certainly tell that Marvel is going in an entirely new direction with Guardians and we’re excited to see how it turns out.

While the film is currently in production in London, we still don’t know who will be voicing the very intriguing Guardians character, Rocket Raccoon.

Rocket was recently revealed to be Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn’s, favorite character.

We also know that after many rumors and teases from the actor himself, Vin Diesel is in negotiations to offer his unique voice to Groot, the sentient tree creature which is part of the Guardians team.

Guardians of the Galaxy follows a futuristic, alien superhero team protecting the galaxy from evil, led by Peter Quill. The team first appeared in Marvel comics in 1969, but weren’t given their own series until the 1990s. Check out our latest news on Guardians of the Galaxy, as the film will hit theaters August 1, 2014.
