Another new Guardians of the Galaxy poster gives us our first official look at actor Benicio Del Toro as The Collector.

Del Toro’s Collector has been seen in previous Marvel films and in some of the latest Guardians of the Galaxy trailers, but this is our first official poster featuring the intriguing character.

Known as one of the oldest living beings in the Marvel universe, The Collector was one of the first of the universe’s races to become sentient in the wake of the Big Bang. Virtually immortal, the Collector spent the first millennia of his existence with his wife and daughter.

Now he’s on a mission to collect what will later help turn Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, into an incredibly powerful being. The Collector will play a key role in Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel has released a new poster featuring Benicio Del Toro’s character:

The Collector’s actual name is Taneleer Tivan and as seen in the poster his mission is to find all the Infinity Gems to create Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos mounts the six Infinity Gems on his left glove to form the Infinity Gauntlet. Each gem gives its bearer complete mastery over each aspect of the multiverse: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, and Power.

Without getting too nerdy, Thanos becomes all-powerful. In case fans have forgotten, Thanos showed up in The Avengers after-credits scene, and Josh Brolin has been cast as the incredibly powerful being who should have a vital role in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and future Marvel films.

Marvel has also released a new extended clip for Guardians featuring a sit down between the gang of misfits as they talk about figuring out a plan. Watch as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper (as Rocket Raccoon) discuss the lack of a solid plan.

Marvel seems to be ramping up its promotion for Guardians of the Galaxy as it heads closer to its world premiere on August 1. We recently found out that fan-favorite Nathan Fillion will have a cameo in Guardians and you won’t believe who he’ll be playing.

We also saw three new posters yesterday featuring the villains in the film played by Karen Gillan, Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou. They were some of the most incredible posters we’ve seen from the film yet, so be sure to check them out in HD.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s previous trailer gave us some great looks at Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana, and more importantly, showed us quite a bit more of Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s release date is set for August 1, 2014. Featuring an intergalactic group of Guardians, led by Star-Lord, they make a desperate stand to save the galaxy.

Two-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper voices the machine-gun-wielding Rocket Raccoon and is joined by Vin Diesel as the tree-like Groot, with Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista filling out the leading roles.
