Marvel recently cast veteran actress Glenn Close in Guardians of the Galaxy, and now they’ve officially announced what her role will be in what has become an enormously massive cast.

It was announced in late May that six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close will be joining Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which has just snowballed into an incredibly talented cast that will be exciting to watch unfold. Her role was unknown at the time, but it was expected she would be involved in Nova Corps.

Now Marvel has released an official press release which confirms that she will be involved in Nova Corps, as she’ll actually be the head of the outfit that was originally a space militia and exploration group for the planet Xandar. Her official title is Nova Prime, but it’s less of a character name and more of an official military-esq title.

Something else that we hadn’t noticed was that two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou had also joined the cast. It wasn’t widely known he was involved with Guardians, but when we were at the Comic-Con panel last week, we saw that he was on stage.

He’ll be playing Korath, according to the press release, who is a Kree agent and a member of the Starforce and ally of Ronan the Accuser, the main villain played by Lee Pace.

We also still don’t know who will be voicing the very intriguing Guardians character, Rocket Raccoon.

It was recently revealed to be Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn’s, favorite character. His character is actually absent altogether in the press release, oddly enough.

Guardians of the Galaxy follows a futuristic, alien superhero team protecting the galaxy from evil, led by Peter Quill. The team first appeared in Marvel comics in 1969, but weren’t given their own series until the 1990s. Check out our latest news on Guardians of the Galaxy, as the film will hit theaters August 1, 2014.
