Lifetime has released the first trailer for Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever starring Aubrey Plaza voicing the internet’s favorite cat.

The Grumpy Cat movie hits theaters November 29, and for many fans of the angry kitty, they’ll finally have a reason to tune into Lifetime.

In the trailer we get a sense of how Plaza – whose casting was perfect given how grumpy she is on Parks & Rec – decided to voice the cat. To us, the trailer feels like a parody because the voiceovers come across as unconvincing. It would’ve felt more authentic if Grumpy Cat’s mouth was moving. Instead, they took the Garfield route: The cat doesn’t open its mouth.

The Grumpy Cat movie is clearly self aware. For example, the cat notes the fact that this is a Lifetime movie. It’s good that it’s not taking itself too seriously. Who knows.. maybe this film will become a Christmas classic?

Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever hits your television screen November 29.

The synopsis for the film is as follows: “In “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever,” Grumpy Cat is a lonely cat living in a mall pet shop. Because she always gets passed over and never gets chosen by customers, this kitty develops a sour outlook on life until…one day during the holidays, a very special 12-year-old girl named Chyrstal enters the pet store and falls in love with Grumpy Cat. A unique friendship is formed between the two when Chyrstal finds she is the only person who can hear this unique feline talk. In the middle of the holiday rush, Grumpy reluctantly thwarts the kidnapping of an expensive exotic dog she can’t stand and rescues Chyrstal after the mall closes on Christmas Eve. Will Grumpy Cat learn the true meaning of Christmas, or will it be in Grumpy’s words, “Worst. Christmas. Ever?””
