TGIT on ABC is only one week away and the first look at Grey’s Anatomy season 12 is finally here. The trailer is short, but already hints at the lighter side of the series that is expected to shine this season. It also explains why the premiere episode is entitled, “Sledgehammer.”
There are big changes heading our way this season when Grey’s Anatomy returns. A brand new batch of interns will grace the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial. Maggie, Meredith, and Amelia will give living together a go. Alex and Jo are taking huge steps in their relationship by moving in together (alone this time). But the biggest change we did not see coming is the destruction of Ellis Grey’s house.

Ellis Grey may be the center of gravity that Meredith keeps spinning around, but her former home is the center of the show. It is where everyone turns when they have no place left to go. It’s walls house every secret of the series from Meredith’s one night stand with Derek to the diaries that hold the career defining, and more personal, moments of Ellis’ career. Everyone, at some time or another, has lived in that house. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself on Meredith’s side yelling at Amelia, “What are you doing?”
Beyond the home renovation everyone seems particularly pleased that Maggie punched the mother of one of her patients. We’ll have to wait and see what lead her to that moment when the series premieres next week!
