The interns, assembled in Grey’s Anatomy season 12, make up quite the gaggle. Would you trust them with your life in an elevator?

It is hard to imagine Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, or Alex Karev fighting for a solo surgery in Grey’s Anatomy season 12. But way back in 2005 as interns they were fighting just to be in the room. The current residents are now fighting for their shot to prove themselves in the OR with a solo-surgery, but the interns are itching to spend some time in the gallery.

More often than not, things get crazy in Seattle. One minute your pre-op is going swimmingly and you’re heading up to the OR and the next an intern has their hand in your chest in an elevator. George O’Malley, aka 007, was that intern. When hothead Alex Karev cracked under the pressure, O’Malley stepped in to save the day under Burke’s instruction.

Imagine, if you will, that you are trapped in an elevator with the current group of interns of Grey Sloan Memorial. Hours away from surgery and rescue, the interns must operate under the coaching of one of the hospitals chiefs. Which intern would you want to be your George O’Malley?

Let’s meet the candidates!

Ghost Intern aka Issac ‘can you bring some cheese’ Cross

Isaac only appears when he is needed to fill a line, bring cheese to a dinner party, or play designated driver for Arizona and April. However, you may want the seemingly clumsy intern who cannot handle next of kin interactions. Look at how George O’Malley turned out! Isaac is always at the front of the line in anatomy class, partially because he is billed as a guest star, partially because he is eager to learn!

It is always the people you doubt, that end up impressing you the most in Grey’s Anatomy. Perhaps Isaac has a few tricks up his sleeve for the future!

McIntern aka Andrew ‘hair that won’t quit’ DeLuca

Andrew DeLuca set the bar pretty high when he entered through the doors of the ER bay on top of man performing CPR. Little did the attendings know that he was only a first day intern not a fully-vetted doctor. While it may be easier to imagine other Andrew DeLuca doing other things to you in a Grey Sloan Memorial elevator (sorry), how would that charisma transfer to a high pressure situation?

Granted it was only his first day, but DeLuca cracked under pressure in the ER when he was asked to make calls way above his pay grade. He has been seen helping out in situations where there is much more OR time than not. And we know he is certainly on the good side of at least one Grey’s Anatomy lady chief!

Intern #3 aka ‘just got myself a name’ Mitchell

Intern #3 earned himself a name in last week’s episode at the cost of being yelled at by Owen Hunt, but he did get some OR time out of the mishap. Could you blame the guy from keeping his distance from a mother who was looking for more than a reassuring smile from her son’s doctor? In the medical field, yes, you could speak up and say you would want someone more attentive to your situation. Even though Owen was displeased by Mitchell’s monitoring skills, he did take the opportunity to teach Mitchell not only about appropriate bedside manner with parents, but about removing batteries from a young boy’s small intestines.

Hey, OR hours are OR hours, right?

A random person from the gaggle

With a leading ensemble of over 10, it is hard to get everyone on air for more than a few minutes an episode. Would you trust someone whose life you know nothing about? It is almost like walking into a hospital in real life! If you are sedated and your life hangs in the balance, the person with the least amount of visible baggage may be the right way to go. Hopefully, they have worked up a repertoire with at least one chief so that they can get the job done!
