What’s the diagnosis on Grey’s Anatomy‘s favorite couples? Here’s what you can expect when we return to Grey-Sloan Memorial tomorrow.

Grey’s Anatomy season 11, episode 9 returns tomorrow to ABC. There are bound to be some interesting medical cases, but what are the diagnoses for the couples of Grey-Sloan Memorial? See what your favorite couples are being treated for!

Arizona and Callie

The first half of season 11 stretched Arizona and Callie to the breaking point of their marriage. Most couples that have walked the halls of Grey-Sloan Memorial can attest that there is nowhere to hide. Facing each other has so far not been too catastrophic, especially with Callie’s focus on the Veteran’s program and Arizona devoting her time to working with the ticking time bomb, Dr. Herman. The newly singles are not exactly focused on trying to mingle just yet.

But Shonda Rhimes teases to EW that as season 11 progresses, “they’re actually starting to date other people and figure out what that is, but that part is just beginning.” Rhimes continues to offer some solace for fans of the power couple. “I am one of their fans as a couple because I love their story together. I want them to work out their crap and get it together,” she says.

Jackson and April

Baby Buddha is sitting still and becoming very fragile as April’s pregnancy carries closer to term. The battle for April is going to be one where her religion is pitted against her medical knowledge. In fact the actress, Sarah Drew, is responsible for pitching the story to Shonda Rhimes. Rhimes describes April’s journey as “really beautiful…The way it’s handled, the way she handles it, the way her character comes through it is quite beautiful actually. I’m actually really proud of how we told the story.”

If Grey’s Anatomy‘s history signals anything, it is that you are going to want some tissues nearby as April and Jackson make their decision.

Meredith and Derek

Rhimes already hinted that viewers will be seeing a lot less of Derek in the remainder of season 11. Since Grey’s Anatomy will not be splitting its time between the two Washingtons, it looks like Meredith plans to do the same. In a sneak peek from this week’s episode, take a stroll down memory lane and see how well the Post-it vows hold up.

Jo and Alex

Alex and Meredith are the only remaining two from the original batch of Seattle Grace interns. It is no surprise then that their dependence on each other is ramped up when Meredith’s marriage falls apart. But where does that leave Jo?

Rhimes is quiet on Jo and Alex’s romantic entanglements, but she does hint that the situation leaves the former in tricky territory. Rhimes says, “You start to understand that Jo kind of idolizes Meredith, so how do you deal with the fact that your idol is your boyfriend’s best friend?” Meredith and Jo are not going anywhere for now as their battle for Alex’s attention continues into season 11.

Meredith and Maggie

Not all relationships are about romance! Sometimes they involve estranged sisters, who also happen to be doctors, coming out of the woodwork. (We miss you, Lexi!) Maggie and Meredith are finally past their standoff and are beginning to work towards a friendship of sorts.

Meredith holds the secrets of Ellis Grey, including her medical triumphs, her failures as a mother, and her battle with Alzheimer’s. Information that Maggie may want to learn further down the road. Dr. Pierce also has her biological father wandering the halls of the hospital looking to define what they can be to each other. Needless to say, Maggie has a lot of family issues to work through in the remainder of season 11.

But what about her love life? No one on Grey’s Anatomy can remain single for too long. However, there is one small glitch. Who’s left?

Rhimes’ solution is to bring in a few fresh faces to the mix. She comments on the lack of testosterone saying, “I’m not saying that these new doctors are going to be new series regulars. I’m just saying we need an infusion of men.”
