It is certainly something we have not seen before! Another disaster strikes on tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy season 11, episode 23.

Billed as a “catastrophic event,” tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy will send four doctors out into the field to handle a surgery that will test their ability to not only work together, but under less than ideal conditions.

A two-hour whirlwind led viewers through nine months worth of army deployments, births, proposals, and amputations. Grey’s Anatomy decided to move on rather than linger in the moment of losing the show’s leading man. As they say in Meredith Grey’s voiceovers, “The carousel keeps on spinning.”

Tonight on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Just when you thought Grey’s Anatomy‘s 10-year run covered it all, the showrunners found a disaster they have not yet tackled in the field, a tunnel collapse. The all too familiar shots of the crisis scene lead to a crushed heap of metal that used to be a car. Inside is a man trapped and in need of the surgeons from Grey Sloan Memorial.

Amelia finally unleashes nine months worth of questions on Meredith to kick off tonight’s episode, “Time Stops.” Her instincts as a surgeon push her to ask Meredith why she was not consulted as a second opinion to examine Derek’s brain. But we suspect that she is masking her real question, why wasn’t she called as a family member?
