Earlier this summer it was revealed that actor James Remar would appear in a multi episode arc on Grey’s Anatomy season 10, now it’s been revealed he’ll be playing the father of one of the surgeons.

In August TV Line broke the news that Remar would be heading to Grey’s Anatomy in season 10. They speculated then that the actor would be playing Alex’s estranged father though they couldn’t get ABC to confirm.

Now Zap2it has gotten confirmation from Remar himself! He will indeed be appearing in Grey’s Anatomy season 10 as the elder Karev.

While Remar’s character will start off as a patient at the hospital he does re-unite with Alex. Remar teases his character saying, “He’s a guy that’s had a very rough life, a lot of drugs. So it’s not an easy reunion.” Of course, don’t expect Alex to be happy to see his old man.

A major plot point for Alex’s character has always been his rocky childhood. Alex’s mother was a diagnosed schizophrenic. While his father was in and out of their lives.

When he was around, the elder Karev often became violent with his family. Eventually Alex learned how to defend himself and got in a fight with his father.

What do you think will happen when Alex is reunited with his father in Grey’s Anatomy season 10?
