Here are the highlights from Grey’s Anatomy season 10, episode 20, “Got It Alone”:

Owen offers to attend the Harper Avery Awards with Cristina but she tells him that she’s planning on going alone. The one person she wanted help from was Meredith for her acceptance speech. When she finds out Meredith can’t, she asks Alex who quickly turns it down.

But as she’s getting ready to leave the parents of her trial patients start arguing and compromise the health of the kids. Instead of going out to work on her speech she ends up staying in with her patients. It’s a good thing because one of the children begins to reject the heart.

While Cristina is in surgery with one of her patients – her sister is found passed out in a hallway. Owen rushes her to Cristina so they can put an emergency LVAD in. Now all of the siblings have to be put on the transplant list for new hearts.

Derek tries to work on his research project but is having a hard time keeping up with work at the hospital. A very stern warning comes from Owen about handing off too much of his work. On top of his work he then finds out he must pick up the kids from daycare because Meredith has to stay at the hospital overnight.

The residents plan a night out at a karaoke bar. That is until Derek tells them that he’s going to show them all a surgery – per Owen’s instructions. Too bad he didn’t tell Meredith his plans and she freaks out when she finds out Derek is at the hospital and has no idea where their children are.

Callie and Arizona take Zola and baby Derek for the night which reminds them how hard having a baby is. Arizona is confused when Callie mentions that she’s going to be the one who carries their next child. Callie explains that she assumed Arizona wouldn’t want to after her miscarriage last year. After thinking about it Arizona realizes that she does want Callie to become pregnant instead of her.

April and Jackson come to a disagreement about one of their patients. Jackson can’t understand why the parents of the patient don’t want her to get an implant. But April agrees with the parents and doesn’t like Jackson dismissing her feelings about it. It leads to concerns about how this would affect their future children.

While Jackson wants to bury the subject – April can’t put it to rest. She’s worried that when the time comes he won’t allow her to teach their children her religious beliefs because he doesn’t agree with them. After arguing all night April takes it upon herself to stay with Callie and Arizona for a while.

Meredith and Derek come to the realization that something has to change. They’ve both taken on too much and their home life is suffering.

Later, Meredith and Owen wait with Cristina for the cab to bring her to the airport. Meredith and Owen both get paged away, making Owen feel guilty. But Cristina assures him that she’s fine doing it alone.

However, once she gets to the ceremony she’s surprised by how overwhelming it is. She quickly realizes she made a mistake and is relieved to find Meredith and Owen are one step ahead of her and waiting at her table.

Cristina was so sure she was going to win the award that she’s not prepared when another name is announced – and struggles to hide the disappointment.
