A new rule at Grey + Sloan Memorial Hospital had several couples in a panic on Grey’s Anatomy season 10, episode 14, “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away.” Read our recap to find out why and discuss the developments with other fans.

Here are the highlights from Grey’s Anatomy season 10, episode 14, “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away”:

The episode begins by showing how the series couples start the morning. Alex and Jo seem to have made up after their fight in the previous episode. Owen asks Emma to move in to a new place with him. Meredith helps Derek pick out a tie for his interview with the government officials and reveals that she’s holding out on him. Callie gave Arizona a new ring to symbolize their fresh start. And April catches Jackson just in time to tell him to remove his wedding ring just before a big meeting.

Owen announces the new non-fraternizing policy much to the shock of the residents. If any of them are caught having relationships with their superiors, it could mean the end of their career. Much to his displeasure, Weber is put in charge of answering any questions. Jo questions the validity of the new rule and blames Stephanie for making her relationship illegal.

Alex and Callie start a case on a cancer patient, which is supposed to start out as easy. But Alex is worried about how her breathing sounds and wants to investigate further. Unfortunately, they find the cancer has spread to her lungs, and it doesn’t look like it can be treated surgically. Weber encourages the residents to work together on the case, but they don’t seem interested.

Together, Jackson and April work on a college student that got in an accident involving a trash shoot that mangled her leg. They’re working on trying to preserve the leg, but it doesn’t look very good!

When Arizona tries to show off her ring to Alex, he’s grumpy. Freaking out, Jo comes up and asks how they’re going to deal with the new non-fraternizing policy. They get in a giant fight in front of everyone and Alex tells her he’s done. But it was all done for show to hopefully trick their co-workers. Alex is convinced that the fuss will eventually go away and things will go back to normal.

Although Cristina says she’s over Owen, she can’t stop talking about him moving in with Emma. Maybe it’s just the wine talking, but she can’t believe it’s really over with her ex-husband. Derek comes home early and tells them his interview was cancelled.

Drunk Cristina goes to congratulate Owen with wine. Inviting Cristina inside was clearly a bad idea, Owen! The two can’t seem to help themselves even though he’s supposed to be happy with Emma. Things are awkward the next morning when Owen sees Emma and she immediately starts talking about them moving in together and having kids.

Bailey finds that Alex and Callie’s patient has a rare gene that keeps causing her to have cancer. They have to find a way to treat the tumors she has without encouraging new ones. Weber puts the residents in charge of finding similar case studies.

Jackson wants to go public about his marriage to April, but she’s worried about what people will say and admits that she likes the sneaking around. He still thinks they should slowly start telling people. They don’t really get a choice when Jo and Alex accidentally walk in on them in the supply closet. Then Weber walks in on all four of them and leaves without a word.

Meredith asks Cristina for advice on what to do with her project. She could lighten her load by giving it up to a bio engineer and have more time to be at home. Surprisingly, Cristina supports the decision. To which Meredith realizes that Cristina slept with Owen.

Angry, Jo confronts Stephanie and tells her that Jackson and April are still together. Stephanie is shocked and says she didn’t file the complaint. Leah steps up and admits she’s the one who complained. Shane tells them they all need to focus on work and stop being distracted by their personal lives.

Shane thinks he’s found a way to treat the girl’s cancer without making it worse. What they don’t know is that she’s already in surgery and barely hanging on. By the time they find Weber and Alex, she’s already dead – making the residents feel awful.

The board meets with Alex to tell him he needs to keep his work life professional. He freaks out on all his friends and tells them to punish him if he has to. Jackson and April decide to break the news about their marriage at that moment to the board.

Owen does the right thing and breaks it off with Emma. However, the only explanation he can give her is that he thought he knew what he wanted but was wrong. Instead of wanting someone to stay home and have babies, he wants someone who’s passionate about what they do. Ring any bells?

Derek finds out he actually got the job with the government – and even better is that they want him to run the project. Meredith takes it better than he probably thought and they end their dry spell.
