ABC’s TGIT returned tonight with Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder. Here’s our roundup of what happened!

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ – Sonya Field

If you were hoping to find out what is going on with Alex, you’re likely to be very disappointed by tonight’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy. In fact, Alex’s situation is only brought up at the beginning of the episode and the end. While fans don’t find out whether or not he actually went through with his decision to take a plea deal, they do get to see how Jo and Arizona react to the news.

The rest of the episode revolved around the case of a pregnant patient at a maximum security prison. Although the episode was very enjoyable to watch, and viewers got to see a new side to Bailey’s beliefs, it didn’t do much in the way of moving the season’s overall story forward.

The Grey’s Anatomy episode also managed to remind us that Arizona has a prosthetic leg, throw in a reference to Orange Is The New Black, and gross us out when the prison doctor (played by Klea Scott) fixed her own broken finger.

‘Scandal’ – Brittany Lovely

Scandal drops you right back into the crazy political upheaval that is the Vargas-Grant election. Right off the bat, Mellie loses and almost instantly Vargas is shot and killed. What’s next? The next President of the United States boils down to the electoral college vote.

Rowan Pope, oddly enough, is not guilty. Olivia Pope takes the case. Of course, she wants to bring down the hammer of justice, but she also wants to frame Cyrus Beene and secure a victory for Mellie Grant (and by extension herself). However, Cyrus is in shock and can barely blink let alone set a political campaign in motion.

Fitz betrays Mellie for the zillionth time and decides to throw his weight behind Cyrus. But as he hands over the keys to America, Charlie, Quinn, and Huck find a missing voicemail in the call log.

So, who was in the cabin that explodes in the first minute of the episode? Jennifer Fields, the woman who pins Vargas’ murder on Cyrus Beene. Revitalized by this information, Olivia confronts Cyrus and sets the game in motion. There is some exciting news — Quinn and Charlie are engaged!

‘How To Get Away With Murder’ – Matthew Howland

How to Get Away With Murder returns with an emotionally packed nod to the late Wes Gibbons. Throughout, key characters each remember a moment they shared with their recently deceased classmate and friend.

The episode centers around everyone trying to adjust to their different circumstances. Laurel has disclosed that Wes is the father of her unborn child. Connor acts like he could care less about Wes’ death. Asher seems to be one of those impacted most as he smashes Connor’s face in. Michaela is afraid and numb. Meanwhile, Annalise refuses to let her guard down while in prison.

All the while Bonnie and Frank conspire to retrieve new evidence to clear Annalise’s name. However, all attempts to set bail fall through and it seems certain that Atwood has what she needs to put Annalise in prison for a very long time. In a shocking turn of events Frank makes a confession that may or may not be true: He killed Wes.
