Grey’s Anatomy adds another series regular to the season 12 roster! Martin Henderson will join the doctors this fall as a new surgeon.

Grey Sloan Memorial will always feel the loss of arguably the most handsome doctor on television, but the halls will certainly not lack eye candy for long. When Grey’s Anatomy season 12 returns Martin Henderson will join the doctors as a series regular. Not much is known about Henderson’s role, except that he will arrive at Grey Sloan memorial to work as a surgeon. Perhaps he will be the candidate selected to go head to head with Miranda Bailey for chief?

Henderson knows his way around a medical drama. In 2011, Henderson played a surgeon in the series Off the Map that followed the lives of doctors working at a hospital in the South American jungle. In fact, he founded the hospital after serving as the youngest chief of surgery at UCLA. After playing a doctor in the jungle, working on the trauma cases that walk through the doors of Grey Sloan Memorial should be a piece of cake.

In addition to Henderson, Grey’s Anatomy will continue to see more of the two new doctors from the close of season 11, Unnamed Intern #1 and Dr. Andrew DeLuca played by Joe Adler and Giacomo Gianniotti respectively.

Henderson’s role follows the announcement earlier this month that Dr. Ben Warren, played by actor Jason George, was promoted to a series regular. Hopefully this means that Miranda and her hubby will share much more screen time together in season 12!

Grey’s Anatomy season 12 returns to ABC Thursday, September 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET this fall.
