ABC has made it official, the Grey’s Anatomy interns are here to stay! Four of the interns have been upgraded to series regulars while one will return as a recurring character.

Camilla Luddington (Jo), Gaius Charles (Shane), Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie), and Tessa Ferrer (Lea) have all had their contracts upgraded to series regulars for season 10 reports TV Line.

The only intern not to become a series regular is Tina Majorino (Heather). Majorino signed on for a pilot with Legends before she got the offer to have her contract extended. However, she will return to the show as a recurring character.

Back in January, it was revealed that Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes was considering bringing them back for season 10 but nothing was set in stone.

When we last left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, the interns lives had successfully been intertwined with the original characters.

Stephanie was involved in a complicated relationship with Jackson that seems to be somewhat up in the air. While Jackson seems to have strong feelings for her, there’s still something lingering with his ex, April.

Derek and Meredith were going back and forth over Heather and Shane trying to find the best fit for their specialties. Now that Shane is a series regular that may mean more surgeries for him. Although in the season 9 finale, Heather shined in surgery while Shane flummoxed

Of course, who can forget all of the romance drama between Alex and Jo. After a whole season of sexual tension, they finally got together in the season 9 finale. With a raging storm going on, and Jo having just gone through domestic violence in her relationship, there are a lot of questions about where they stand.

Needless to say, upgrading the interns to series regulars was a no brainer.

Are you glad to see the interns back as interns for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10?
