Sarah Drew didn’t have to wait long after her departure from Grey’s Anatomy to find new work; the actress will be co-leading CBS’ Cagney & Lacey reboot.

It was announced on March 8 that Sarah Drew would be let go from Grey’s Anatomy after nine seasons on the show. Fans were sad to see Drew and her character, Dr. April Kepner, go, but luckily you won’t have to wait too long to see Drew on your television screens again. It was recently announced that she would be co-leading CBS’ reboot of the ’80s police procedural, Cagney & Lacey.

As Deadline reports, Drew will be playing LAPD Detective Cagney, the easygoing partner and protegee to Detective Lacey, who will be played by Blindspot actress Melissa Hurd. Cagney and Lacey not only play professional colleagues but also friends who work together to support each other and keep the streets of Los Angeles safe for us all.

In the original series, Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless played the titular detectives for the show’s seven-season run. It was a huge hit for CBS, winning two Emmys for Best Drama, and Daly and Gless both received multiple wins for Best Actress in a Drama Series.

It’s a pretty big feat, reviving a series that was so beloved by fans, ran for so long, and raked in as many Emmys as the original Cagney & Lacey did. However, with talented actresses like Sarah Drew and Melissa Hurd headlining the show, it’s bound to be a great cop procedural. There’s no word yet on when the series is set to officially premiere, but we can’t wait to see these badass women keep LA safe!
