Tonight’s TGIT includes Grey’s Anatomy 15×08, Station 19 2×07, and How To Get Away With Murder 5×08. Here’s our thoughts on what happened!

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ 15×08 ‘Blowin In The Wind’:

A massive storm blows into Seattle, but even those strong winds aren’t enough to cool down all the chemistry blazing in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital!

Most importantly, we have Meredith and DeLuca continuing to circle around each other without really admitting anything. DeLuca is working on Cece when Meredith comes by, and of course she can’t help but get right on about the dating. She shows Meredith a picture of Lincoln when DeLuca has to watch on.

But Meredith is also super distracted by everything that’s going on with Catherine so she’s not in the best of moods. She ends up breaking the news to Maggie, so that she doesn’t make the mistake of ending things with Jackson and then regretting it.

Meredith and DeLuca break the news to Cece that she has an organ donor on site, but they have some very serious warnings to give her first. There’s a chance it won’t even be successful but she agrees to it anyways. She just wants Meredith to promise to continue her search for love which prompts her to agree to drinks with Lincoln.

Sadly, DeLuca sees the whole thing and isn’t happy about it. The next time that he sees her though, DeLuca gathers the courage to tell Meredith that he thinks she’s amazing and doesn’t regret the fact that he kissed her at Alex’s wedding.

It so looks like Meredith wants to give in and just let something happen, but she tells him that she’s having a week and doesn’t trust herself right now. But promises to think about what he said. But then the pair get stuck in an elevator together!

We also have the big love triangle getting more complicated as Teddy arrives as the hospital to help. Maggie can’t help but but her nose in a little bit when she sees her interacting with Owen, she’s just as confused as I as to why Teddy hasn’t told him yet.

Teddy and Owen actually end up working together on a patient, but when Betty appears he leaves to go see if she’s alright. Both Owen and Amelia are a bit shaken to see that she got hurt from walking there and admits that she messed up leaving.

When they scrub up for surgery, Teddy finally tells Owen she has something to tell him but wants to wait till afterwards. Of course, he can’t stop asking about it during surgery. Eventually she does tell him right there on the table but gets called away to help on another surgery, leaving him stunned.

Before Teddy gets into surgery, Owen goes after her and wants to know how she kept the news from him. But they’re interrupted again by Amelia who comes in with the news that she wants to apply to be Betty’s foster mom. Super bad timing!

And we still have Nico and Levi who continue to have a lot of tension between them. It’s making them argue constantly, even about their work. But when Nico is nearly injured, Levi doesn’t hesitate to go after him. Locked away in an ambulance, they’re finally able to talk it out and Levi makes it clear that he feels no shame about his attraction to Nico. They stop arguing to kiss it out.

Meanwhile, Weber and Bailey admit to each other that they both seem to be having issues in their marriage. While Weber tells Bailey he thinks Catherine could be cheating, she tells him that she’s not living with Ben at the moment. He gets tough on her though and tells her that she can’t just take a break on her marriage and needs to work on herself.

As for Catherine, Weber still doesn’t know about her tumor but Jackson finds out from Maggie (who was told by Meredith). So it looks like those two may have patched things up for the time being which is kind of a weird turn of events after their big fight.

I was really looking forward to this episode thanks to all the teases about Meredith and DeLuca. ABC really knows how to draw the shippers in! They definitely didn’t disappoint but now I’m left wanting to know what’s next right now and having to wait weeks! There’s a lot to look forward to, and I can’t wait to see where all of these cliffhangers end up going.

‘Station 19’ 2×07 ‘Weather The Storm’:

You know that storm that Sonya talked about going on in Seattle during Grey’s Anatomy? Well, Station 19 is doing their best to handle it, too, as well as all their personal dramas. This was a pretty important episode for a whole host of characters.

Let’s start with Gibson, shall we? While everyone else is sent out on calls, Chief Ripley asks Gibson to stay behind and hold down the fort. They need someone manning the phones and monitoring the storm. There’s not much he can do from the station, though, and it seems to be triggering all of Gibson’s hot spots right now.

Former Captain Herrera seems to see disturbing signs in Gibson, so he keeps a pretty close eye on him throughout the episode. We don’t have a name for what Gibson’s going through at the moment, but it’s definitely affecting his life, his work, and his relationships.

While Gibson is busy getting diagnosed by his former captain, the rest of the crew, minus Andy and Captain Sullivan (we’ll get to them in a bit), respond to a collapsed carport emergency. A man is trapped in his car, surrounded on all sides by the beams and heavy roof of the structure.

Moments after they arrive on the scene, the man’s wife and mother come out to have a chat. We quickly learn that things aren’t all wine and roses for this family, and the day is only going to get worse. Miller, Warren, Bishop and Montgomery work quickly to get him out, while Hughes and Chief Ripley gleefully use a pair of chainsaws to move a large pine tree from the road that is keeping the engines from the scene.

While they are all working away, one by one, they all start to smell smoke. A couple of steps and a glance upward show that sparks from some outdoor lights have set the family’s house on fire. They all move into fire mode and begin assessing the scene.

Bishop takes charge and gets everyone on task efficiently. Miller gets the husband free from the car and moves him to safety across the street in someone’s garage. Warren and Montgomery head into the house to get the man’s wife, mother, and infant children free from the fire.

Montgomery forces the wife out as Warren continues to move toward the babies’ room. He gets in, takes the kids from the grandmother’s arms, and tells her to follow on his heels. He emerges and returns the babies to their parents only to realize that the grandmother isn’t behind him. He goes back in, oxygen-less, against Montgomery’s pleas for him to wait. It’s a damn good thing he didn’t wait, though, because the fire is spreading quickly enough that his exit is consumed moments after he reaches the grandmother’s side.

He radios for help and dah, dah, DAH! Bishop and the engines arrive to save the day. They all make it out safely and they get to work putting the fire out. All in all, a good day for the crew.

While the crew is fighting fires, Herrera and Sullivan are trying to help a hit and run victim with a leg in bad condition. You may recognize the location they are called to. We saw Sullivan’s wife lying in the road there just a few episodes ago. It definitely doesn’t help the Captain’s focus, that’s for sure.

Sullivan and Herrera bond over the terrible conditions as they wait for directives from dispatch. When the aid car starts to drift in the wind, they decide together that it’s too dangerous to wait it out there. They leave the scene and we don’t see them again until the last seconds of the episode, when we see ominous black skid marks on the road and the aid car on it’s side over a cliff. Aaaand we have to wait to find out their fates, as that is all we get until Station 19 returns with new episodes.

A few more minor, but important items to keep in mind: Hughes and Ripley have some serious chemistry going on, Ryan and his father continue to be at odds, and Montgomery learns that Grant doesn’t ever see himself getting married. Oh, and Bishop will be promoted to Lieutenent very soon… but she’s being transferred to Station 23. Never a dull moment in Seattle, that’s for sure.

‘HTGAWM’ 5×08 ‘I Want To Love You Until The Day I Die’:

The mid-season finale of How to Get Away With Murder delivered on everything it promised and so much more.

First of all, before I get into the heavy stuff, I will just say that Connor and Oliver’s wedding was perfection. The tuxes, the speeches the vows…all culminating in Oliver’s adorable “grand gesture.” The way that Connor lit up when Oliver started singing, even after the weirdness he’d just witnessed, was maybe the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Seriously. Ever.

So How to Get Away With Murder season 5 has been flashing forward to “who died at the wedding?” and like they said they would, they answered that question. The one who didn’t make it through the night was Miller, and I’m guessing most fans aren’t going to be too disappointed with that.

I like that Nate finally really got his hands dirty. There’s no more skirting the edges for him. His dad’s death pushed him over the edge and finally caused him to make a real decision about where he stood! It was sad that Bonnie had to get so involved with killing this man who’d she’d fallen in love with, but I never really got on board with their relationship, to begin with.

This flash-forward-reveal didn’t pack as much of a punch as previous seasons. It didn’t really feel like clues from the first half of the season were coming together for a huge reveal. It kind of felt disjointed. Maybe that’s just because I really couldn’t care less about Miller, though.

By the time we got to the end of the episode, I’d completely forgotten that we were also supposed to figure out who Gabriel is, even though that has been the more prevalent mystery, all season long. I actually loved this reveal, and I’m so glad that every one of my theories about Gabriel were wrong.

It’s absolutely perfect that he’s Sam’s son. It’s just the right amount of intrigue to keep him from being a villain but to keep everyone on their toes and bring back their crimes from How to Get Away With Murder season 1, just as everyone was actually getting over it.

I can’t wait to see them spiral in the back half of the season, when How to Get Away With Murder returns!
