Grey’s Anatomy 12×21, “You’re Gonna Need Someone On Your Side,” had Callie and Arizona preparing to battle by asking their friends to pick sides.

Amelia and Owen fall asleep on the couch…naked, ensuring that Maggie and Meredith walk in on them the next morning and bother them about it. Meredith isn’t afraid to spread the story to others either. Even though Owen is worried that this will scare Amelia off, it’s always fun to see the friends picking on each other like this. Meredith also made up for it by encouraging Amelia to go see Owen later, and they seem to be ready to actually have a relationship for real.

Bailey and Ben are still fighting about work and he’s sleeping on the couch. Things get dicey when Ben is in Bailey’s first surgery because the usual anesthesiologist is out sick. It isn’t until Maggie talks to Ben and Riggs talks to Bailey that they see the other’s side. Maybe these two won’t be fighting for too long after all?

Stephanie accompanies Kyle to the hospital and Amelia is surprised to see them together. Amelia is worried that it’s unprofessional, so she kicks Stephanie off of his case. They learn that Kyle needs surgery again thanks to a new tumor, and Amelia gets even more worried when he seems to let Stephanie make his decisions for him.

Stephanie even takes it a step further and demands to be in the operating room with him. Just like his first surgery, she wants to be there to keep him calm. Amelia knows better, though, and says that Stephanie will just be a distraction.

This means Stephanie has to wait in the main lobby like everyone else waiting on loved ones in surgery, and she doesn’t seem to like it all. Stephanie’s place is in the operating room, but her relationship is already getting in the way of that. I wasn’t surprised at all to see that she broke it off with Kyle in favor of her career. She wasn’t even really ready to call him her boyfriend, so I’m glad she put her future as a surgeon first. However, Stephanie should really be more careful working with Amelia. It seems like she keeps overstepping her boundaries!

Arizona plans on asking her friends for their support in the case against Callie but is unlucky enough to have Penny as her resident for the day. She gives April another ultrasound and doesn’t see anything wrong at first, so they celebrate. That is, until Arizona gets a look at the baby’s brain and begins to worry. It looks like the veins in the brain could be slightly dilated, but it could also just be the way it looks on the ultrasound. April immediately starts freaking out and asks Arizona to leave.

Callie asks Alex to take the stand in her defense at the trial and he says he won’t pick a side. When Arizona asks, Alex says no to her as well, then she has a mini-meltdown and accuses Penny of spying on her. Meredith and Owen tell Callie they’re on her side.

Feeling like she’s not doing enough, Arizona decides to do the MRI for April. It turns out that it was a glitch on the ultrasound, just like Arizona thought. She tells April and Jackson that she can’t be their OB anymore and be their friends so recommends the best doctors she knows. I’m really glad that Arizona made this decision because it is what’s best for their friendship. April might not see it that way, but it was really hard for us to watch her put Arizona down through the episode.

Despite having an awful day, Arizona was still able to get DeLuca, Bailey, and Weber on her side for the custody case against Callie. Am I the only one who keeps waiting for Callie to come to her senses and change her mind about moving?
