Grey’s Anatomy, 12×20, “Trigger Happy,” had Amelia stepping into the role of emotional support for her friends, while Arizona got ready to battle for her rights.

Over coffee, Callie fills Arizona in on her plans for New York. They seem to be getting along fine until the subject of Sofia going to school in New York comes up. Arizona makes it clear she is not okay with her daughter being dragged halfway across the country. Callie tries to convince Arizona that she is a part of the decision-making but they’re definitely not on the same page. Penny does the smart thing by staying out of it. Good for you, Penny.

Somehow, Arizona ends up turning to Weber for help. She tells him that Callie offered her visitation rights, but she’s already sought help from a lawyer. He warns her that it might cause more harm than good, just like in Jackson and April’s situation. Bailey is confused when Callie says she’s going to give up her chief of orthopedic in order to move to New York and take a step down in her career.

By the end of the night, Callie is apologizing to Arizona about jumping the gun. Yet she still plans to go and even applied to schools for Sofia. Arizona informs her that she’s already contacted a lawyer and it seems like she’s ready to go to war over this.

An eight-year-old boy is brought in with a gunshot wound from his friend, which stirs up lots of controversy in the hospital. Alex thinks guns just make things worse, but Jo has a gun for protection. As if these two need anything more to argue about.

Maggie basically antagonizes the babysitter to find out why she left the boys alone, only to find out that the babysitter was just making them food when it happened. She comes to realize that caring so deeply about her new family is very frightening.

Amelia takes special interest in making sure the little boy who fired the gun doesn’t feel at fault. She tries to assure him that he’s not a murderer and that he didn’t mean to hurt his friend. Before leaving the hospital, he is even shown saying to himself, “I didn’t mean to.”

Owen finally admits to Amelia why he’s so upset about his sister’s death. When she called and told him that Riggs was cheating on her, he told her to get on the chopper and come to him. He’s been carrying around the guilt that he was the one who told her to get on the flight that killed her. “You didn’t mean to,” Amelia comforts him.

Since Ben can’t work as a surgeon at the moment, he decides to try to get a job as an anesthesiologist again. His mistake is going for the interview without telling Bailey first. Even though he gets offered the job, Bailey says that he’s suspended and doesn’t want him taking it. When Ben says it’s not up to her, she threatens that he better find somewhere else to sleep if he takes the job. We all know that Bailey doesn’t make idle threats. Maybe Jackson is looking for a roommate?

My favorite part of the episode was the catfishing storyline. Meredith’s patient is expecting to meet her soulmate she’s been dating online for a whole year. When he shows up to meet her, however, he’s definitely nothing like his picture. He wasn’t the only one lying, though; she also told him that she was dying when her tumor wasn’t actually very dangerous.

After some intense sexting, Stephanie takes a leap and goes on a date with Kyle Diaz. He takes her to a recording studio where they enter into a make out session.

For once, Jackson and April aren’t fighting. They even plan to go to an OB appointment together in the morning. Hopefully their truce will last long enough for the baby to be born. At this point it seems like they’re going to keep things at the friend level. I’m worried that if they tried for more it might lead to another disaster. Yet the hopeless romantic in me does hope they can find their way back to each other.
